Apart from being a boy, the life Joe leads is that of a typical enchanted princess. He is fast friends with animals great and small, he accepts (with some chagrin) his excessively lovely singing voice, and he endeavors to find his place in the world a little more with each passing day.

When faced with the prospect of wedding unhappily and placing his kingdom in easy reach of some unsuitable suitors, Joe does what any princess would do:

He embarks on a quest for a mysterious king on which he will have to scale a mountain, match wits with a dragon, escape a dastardly prince, and live to tell the tale.
