The Foundations of Feminism & Queer Identity

Few texts have had such a profound impact on contemporary feminist thought as the seminal work This Bridge Called My Back, edited by Cherríe Moraga and Gloria Anzaldúa and published by the Kitchen Table Press in 1981.

This week, I spoke with one of the anthology’s editors — internationally recognized poet, playwright, essayist, and memoirist Professor Cherríe Moraga — about the events that led to its publication, as well as the new edition of her memoir Waiting in the Wings: Portrait of a Queer Motherhood, how political consciousness has changed in the last half-century, and so much more.
