Refusing Compulsory Sexuality
Too often, asexual identities and experiences are excluded from queer spaces, even by those who purport to be dedicated to liberation for all.
This week, I spoke with Sherronda J. Brown (they/she), author of Refusing Compulsory Sexuality: A Black Asexual Lens on our Sex-Obsessed Culture, about the ways that asexual advocacy has contributed to queer liberation movements by pushing back on reductive definitions of queerness and the way that we, in turn, need to move away from reductive definitions of asexuality.
