The work of queer history is, in part, detective work, painstakingly uncovering the details of queer lives that have been forgotten and erased.
This week, I had the privilege of talking with pathbreaking queer historian and visual artist Jonathan Ned Katz about his experience piecing together details of the story of early 20th-century lesbian activist Eve Adams, the subject of his most recent book, The Daring Life and Dangerous Times of Eve Adams, as well as Katz's own seminal work that helped establish queer history as a field.
